課程概述 |
課程編號:122 M0080 研究方法與學術英文寫作二
教師: 蕭立君
Course Description:
Our classes will operate mainly as workshops and individual conferences. Workshops consist of oral reports on research ideas, findings, progress of project, presentations of works in progress, group discussions, and peer collaborations. Individual conferences are scheduled meetings between individual students and the instructor (and whenever possible, the advisors in question too). Weekly or biweekly journal entries are required, as are mid-term and final writing samples. Detailed schedules of the meetings and the writings to be presented or handed in will be determined after the first couple of weeks.
Students are also required to come up with a preliminary reading list for thesis writing after initial research and consultation with the instructor and their advisors. While such lists are still taking shape, the instructor will suggest certain readings from which students may learn what a well-researched and articulated academic essay consists of, and , by extension, what it takes to compose a quality thesis.

課程目標 |
Course Objective:
The objective of this course is to help second-year graduate students better prepare themselves for the process of writing an MA thesis. It will introduce and familiarize students with the methodologies, research and writing skills necessary for starting and completing a thesis. Students should note that this class can only aspire to a supporting role for the implantation of research and the actual writing of theses, which will have to be carried out by the students themselves. Our ultimate goal is to help every student become an independent researcher and author of a quality Master’s thesis, even though each is expected to make the most of the resources provided by both this class and her/his thesis advisor.
